About Dixiane Hallaj
![]() Writer of women's fiction, Dixiane came late to the writing world. She first enjoyed a 20-year teaching career while raising a family and moving to Jordan and then Palestine. Upon returning to the U.S., she studied accounting and taxation and ran her own successful tax accounting practice for almost 20 years. Retirement sent her back to school to earn a Ph.D. Dixiane Hallaj earned a Ph.D. in Literacy and Adult Learning from George Mason University the same year she received her medicare card. She started writing novels after finishing her award-winning dissertation.
As an indie author, she joined several professional organizations that promote high standards and adhere to strict codes of professionalism. The more she learned, the more she knew there was to learn, so she set out to help other writers along the way. She writes the occasional blog Dixie Helps Writers. Dixiane is the founder and acquisitions editor of S & H Publishing, Inc. a boutique publishing house for women's fiction, built on the same ideals and standards she applies to her own writing and the organizations she supports. She currently lives in Purcellville, a small town in rural Virginia, with the memories of her husband of 55 years and a cat named Dog. When not writing, she dabbles in painting and pottery. Dixiane loves hanging out with family over good food and amusing conversation. |
